Let’s respect and preserve

What’s a tradition?

Traditions are accumulations of national spirit and way of thinking. They seem to give a special colouring to the national characteristic. And if you want to get acquainted with the culture of any people you had better first get acquainted with its traditions. With the help of them you get a general idea of the life and manners, national characteristic of a certain people.

The Armenian spiritual culture is too rich in traditions. It’s no secret that the Armenians are the most tradition-keeping people in the world.  On all times they have considered their sacred duty to follow their traditions. Our fathers and forefathers have been brought up in that spirit and they have tried to bring us in the same way.

How does our generation refer to our national traditions? Do these traditions have the same role and meaning for ur generation? It’s difficult to answer those questions. It’s a pity but, we must admit the fact for the generation of the 21 century traditions are pushed to the background. Besides there is a misunderstanding, that the national traditions hinder the development of free thinking. But it’s a fact that by traditions our people doesn’t lose their national face, they have been willed to us by our father.

You may keep up with the time, its obligatory but we mustn’t underfoot what is called “national face.”
