The Work of the English Speaking Club in September

Tastes Differ

Thu, 09/13/2012 - 22:04 | ՅուրաԳանջալյան

We had our English speaking club meeting today on the 13th of September, and the topic for today's discussion was "Tastes Differ." The members of the club were asked a question: "How do your tastes in music and clothing differ from those of your parents'? I wasn't very much surprised to hear that the students' and their parents' tastes in these important matters were nearly the same. It means that their parents have developed their children's tastes according to their likes and dislikes and I think that is natural. How can a child love classical music if he or she has only listened to light or pop music since the day of their birth? Even in the kindergartens of Germany and Austria children listen to classical music while playing with their toys, and in the course of time they become keen on classical music.
The same can be said about our tastes in clothing.
So we came to the conclusion that tastes can be directed.

National Dignity and National Peacockery - Ազգայինարժանապատվությունևազգայինսնապարծություն

09/11/2012 - 01:05

On the 11th of September at 15:00 the members of the English speaking club are going to discuss the article by P.Sevak "National Dignity and National Peacockery." I think this will be a very interesting discussion. We will be glad if the English and social studies teachers of our Educomplex also take part in our discussion. It will be just another opportunity to communicate in English.

The First Meeting of the English Speaking Club

Thu, 09/06/2012 - 23:30 | ՅուրաԳանջալյան

During the first meeting some organizational questions were discussed and decisions were made. At first I introduced the plan of our English speaking club activities to the learners. I read out all the topics for discussions and debates and after that it was decided that we should discuss the topic "Patriotism and National Peacockery" at our next meeting on the 11th of September. The club members were given a home-task to read P. Sevak's article "National Peacockery and National Dignity - Ազգայինսնապարծությունևազգայինարժանապատվություն" in order to get ready for the discussion more properly.
It was also decided that we should continue our project work: "Creating an English-Armenian Pictorial School Dictionary".
At the end of the meeting we decided that our meetings at school should take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 15.00 whereas the project work should be done in distance mode.
