                                          Viaje al fondo de la Tierra

Observando la fotografía, podría pensarse que una enorme explosión ha originado ese inmenso agujero... Mide casi un kilómetro y medio de ancho y tiene una profundidad de más de medio kilómetro. Es tan grande, ¡que incluso puede verse desde el  espacio!

Sin embargo, no ha sido una explosión ni el choque de un asteroide el causante de semejante boquete... En realidad se trata de una mina a cielo abierto, situada en una ciudad rusa llamada Mirny.

Gracias a esta mina y a losnumerosos mineros que trabajan en ella, se obtiene allí una gran producción de diamantes, lo que genera un importante beneficio económico para su país.

                                Journey to the depths of the Earth

Watching the photo you might think that an enormous explosion has originated this huge canyon... It measures almost one km and half width and it has a depth of more than half km. It is so huge, that it can even be seen from the space!

Surely there has neither been an explosion nor a clash of an asteroid, which can be the cause of such canyon. In fact it is an open air mine, located in russian town called Mirny.

Due to this mine and the miners, who work there, a large diamond production is held there, which generates a significant economic benefit to the country.

Ուսումնասիրելով լուսանկարը՝ կմտածես, որ հսկայական պայթյունից է առաջացել այս մեծ անցքը: Նրա լայնությունը գրեթե մեկ ու կես կմ է, իսկ խորությունը՝ ավելի քան կես կմ: Այն այնքան մեծ է, որ նույնիսկ տեսանելի է տիեզերքից:

Անկասկած չի եղել  ո՛չ պայթյուն, ո՛չ ինչ-որ աստերոիդի ցնցում, որն էլ կարող էր նմանատիպ ճեղքի առաջացման պատճառ հանդիսանալ: Իրականում խոսքը գնում է բաց երկնքի տակ գտնվող մի հանքի մասին, որը գտնվում է ռուսական Միրնի քաղաքում:

Այս հանքի և այստեղ աշխատող բազմաթիվ հանքափորների շնորհիվ այստեղից ձեռք է բերվում ադամանդի մեծ արտադրություն, որը առաջացնում է կարևոր տնտեսական շահ իր երկրի համար:
