Steps on Water

 Naira Nikoghosyan

Lilit Bleyan carried us away through dreams and flights. The audience made steps on water, and that was seen in everybody's eyes. Bravo, Lilit! The way the concert was delivered was great. The singer also commented on her songs, gave clarifications. Lilit sang in four languages and she was understood very well: that is universal rim of humanity which is understood irrespective of the language where free and calm man dwels....

Lilit Bleyan gave a concert at the Cafesjian Centre for the Arts in Yerevan. The concert made a deep impression on me.

“Steps on Water” to overcome fear, but at the same time not to forget about the feeling of measure and not to sink; to be both voice and ear, to be both heart and brain, and remain balanced in love. Some people say that the history of mankind is the history of revolutions, wars and new scientific technical discoveries, but your lips uttered the most optimistic, unexpected and pleasant definition of the history of mankind: the history of mankind is the history of realized dreams. The word dream was pronounced so much at your concert last night, and the most important thing is that your blue dream, your sand castle has remained steady; your dream has come true. You have already got your incredibly frank style, you know what to say, you have your pronounced and unpronounced words, your melodies, your dreams and feelings which are so close to me. With this regard the most exciting and frank song is about that imaginary dark room where people's appearance, the fact of their being fat or thin, the colour of their eyes, false smiles are not taken into consideration, where all women are pretty and young if their souls are beautiful and young. I don't understand Spanish or Italian but I was admired by your songs in these languages as well. Your song devoted to the Mediterranean Sea was delightful. No words can express the amount of pleasure that I got by listening to the song Patience in Spanish. Your clarifications helped me understand and completely feel the song. I have known the Armenian expression “a sea of patience“since childhood, but to describe it in such a picturesque way and to compose a song...That was unforgettable. According to our great poet Tumanyan a person becomes unforgettable thanks to his/her products of work. I think that now you are in that process. You are creating values which will always be loved. May always success attends you, my dearest Lilit.
