The USA in a Nutshell: The 2nd Presentation

An awesome event took place in the small hall of the Mother School of Yerevan Mkhitar Sebastatsi EduComplex. The 11th and 12th graders were presentating the final product of their project The USA in a Nutshell . As it is written in their English teacher Nune Aydinyan' blog entry, the aim of the project is to generate interest and raise intercultural awareness about the country of the language being studied. Actually this is an informative project. Learners study the characteristics and various aspects of the United States: values, symbols, history, economy, law, education, science, culture - art, music, movie making, literature, holidays, branches of government, sports, national cuisine, and prepare short presentations about these aspects. This was the 2nd presentation of the project. The first part was presented on the 23rd of September. The event was attended by by Mariam Martirosyan, director of the Armenian branch of P-H International, Inna Ghabulyan, EducationUSA educational consultant, Mery Arakelyan, specialist from US Peace Corps in Armenia, and other guests.

The whole procedure of the presentations was very well planned. The event was opened by Tigran Harutyunyan who, with his solemn voice, read out the US declaration of independence. Mery Yeremyan presented the symbols of the USA, and Shushan Pashinyan spoke about citizenship and democracy. Araks Kalichyan made a speech about crime and punishment. There were also other presentations: Tigran Harutyunyan - NASA, Karine Gomtsyan - Armenian Community in the USA, Nare Navasardyan - The USA Music and How it Got Created, and the highlight of the event was Ilona Sahakyan's presentation about the branches of the US Government
