The Summits I Have Conquered

Ani Manukyan, Grade 12

September 21 is approaching. This is Armenia's Independence Day, and in our Educomplex we celebrate it by conquering summits.

Every year on this day we choose a summit and go in that direction. Choosing a summit depends on the age group of learners. I have already been studying at the Educomplex for 12 years, and I have conquered many summits. My first summit was the castle of Bjni, which not so high and it was not difficult to ascend. The next one was Mount Ara, the volcano cone. It was very easy for us to conquer that summit. We reached it singing, playing and talking. Many of you know Havuts Tar. This summit was very difficult to conquer. Everybody who decide to go there should be very careful if they are not experienced in mountaineering. They should certainly prepare for it very well and go there with someone who will guide them. Very good impressions have remained about climbing up Havuts Tar. The road was difficult, rough, narrow and slippery. Part of the road was through Khosrov forest. We were climbing up helping each other, sharing the last sip of water with each other. It was excitingly pleasant. Descending was easier. Last year our Eco Club members conquered Mount Armaghan. Ashot Bleyan accompanied us. It is also a volcanic mountain and is in the Geghama mountains.

I have determined to go on conquering new summits this year.
