The 3rd annual open Eco Tour 2013

Review of the Ecological projects

Student teams (8-12th grade) from the Republic of Armenia, Republic of Karabagh and Georgia can take part in the review which is open. Through the review students which are interested in ecological-environmental issues present problems, propose requirements, offer solutions to the society and to the government.

 

From November 10 to April 25

Each of the participating teams develops and implements projects (at least five topics from the below mentioned list). The projects can be fulfilled stage by stage during the whole year: The results are performed in mskh.am, in Mass Medias and other websites.

Eco Tour topics

1.                 Pollution of the atmosphere in the Republic of Armenia

2.                 Natural and anthropogenicdisasters in the Republic of Armenia

3.                 Waste, rubbish problems, recycling of waste

4.                 Radiation around us

5.                 Water, use of the rain and the melted water, problems of fresh water

6.                 Food poisoning, modified organisms

7.                 Leaf fall and the ecology of the environment

8.                 Careless use of subsoil resources and ecological effects

9.                 Noise and health

10.             Electricity saving in our residences

11.             Tree planting, tree care

12.             The yard road improvement

13.             Land “liberation” from the asphalt

14.             Cultivation of bushes, decoration of environment (ex. mskh.am logo in Educomplex area)

15.             Ecotourism, reserves,national parks

16.             Creation of educational materials about the environment

17.             Eco problems in the educational cabinets, at school

18.             Why do people smoke?

19.             Computers, radiation and man

20.             Ecological problem and its solutions presented by the learner

 

 

Each team has a leader, expert-consultant (specialist in the respective field).

Each team develops its own logo, insignias, as well as anthem and flag.

·                 Presentation of the projects to the commission

·                 EcoTour of the project participants

·                 Master classes

·                 On-line discussion of the Eco Tour results

 

 

Schedule of the competition

 

Teams compete within two groups in two stages.

Stage1. First group represents the first topic selected by chance.

The opponent team asks questions or makes additions to the topic represented by the first group.

Stage2.Teams change their roles and select the second topic by chance.

Each team is given 10 minutes to get ready.

The results of two stages are evaluated and summed up by the independent expert committee which includes experts in this field.

The competition commission evaluates the project which includes: views, experiments, researches, discussion of information, practical work aimed at solving the ecological problems, civic activism, cooperation, appearing in Mass Media, materials representing the project.Researches, initiative activities are evaluated, which may be continuous, as well as knowledge on the subject, the seriousness of the work, the way of performing, the use of the digital technologies, the detailed discussion of the proposed solutions and the team work.

 

The prize of the Eco Tour is the participation in the International Olympic 4-day-camp.

Participants can be given accommodation in the guest home of the Educomplex.
