Inspiring persons

As I have already mentioned in one of my previous articles, the members of our English speaking club are preparing for an international project which will be coordinated by Lesley Diaz from the USA. Today she came to our club lesson with her partner from Iran and we had an interesting discussion together. At the end of the first lesson, when our guests had already left, I asked the learners to write about their impressions.

Tigran Abrahamyan Grade 9: Lesley Diaz, a young woman from America, came to our English Club lesson today. We are going to do a project together which is called International Peace Project. She asked us two questions and we all answered those questions in turn. The questions were: “Who is the most inspiring person in your life?”, and the second one: “Why are you learning English?”. There was also a young man from Iran present at our lesson. I myself said that my inspiring person is Steve Jobs. I said that he was the founder of  “Apple” Company; he was a man with such a powerful spirit and had so many ideas that he wanted to realise. When he was young, he was thinking about his success. He wrote a letter to a rich businessman and asked for some money to be invested in the realization of his dream. As for the question “Why are you learning English”, I answered that I wanted to go to UWC College in Dilijan and continue my education there, where all the subjects are taught in English.

Christina Nersesyan and Nora Tumanyan Grade 12 : Today we had an interesting discussion with our guests from the USA and Iran about the people who inspire us. Each of us spoke about our future professions and answered the question who the inspiring person for each of us was. The answers varied: Mahatma Gandi, Steve Jobs, Bill Gates or Fyodor Emelyanenko. There was a student who said that he was inspired by himself, and another one said he was inspired by his father and close relations. We came to the conclusion that we all need people who will inspire and motivate us.

Susanna Avetisyan Grade 11:

Today Lesley Diaz with her partner from Iran visited us once more, and we began our lesson.  Arnold Bleyan was also present at our lesson because he knows English very well and wants to practice speaking. We talked about the main reasons of learning English and about inspiring persons in our lives. Each learner explained his/her own point of view and we arranged to write two short letters on the same topic. Our next meeting will be next Wednesday.
