The most beautiful thing

Our English speaking club members share their impressions after having watched the short ten-minute film “The most beautiful thing”.

Susanna Avetisyan, Grade 11

Many people believe no living creature can survive without that subtle and tender feeling. Yes, you could guess, I’m writing about love. Love is different, unique, unexplainable…. The most important thing about love is that it can make a person happy only if it is true and mutual. We have just watched a film about two young people who found each other, and I hope their love will be true and mutual.

At the beginning of the film we can see that the young man was always ignored by his fellow students. They didn’t even give any answer to his greetings. So he always felt abandoned and unnoticed. He was lonely, and he felt his life was sad and boring. He had a good soul but no one could see it.

She was devoid of the ability to speak although she had so nice and meaningful words to say. So even though she had a big wish to speak she couldn’t do it, and so she was also a lonely person.

But their lives changed once they found each other randomly. They both began smiling. They both began to think that life is so wonderful, and they did everything possible in order not to lose each other again. The boy tried hard to learn a bit of sign language, and the girl uttered her first words with utmost difficulty. True love can make wonders. The film ends with Helen Keller’s quote: “The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched - they must be felt with the heart.”

Davit Nikoghosyan, Grade 12

At first I would like to mention the main idea which the film wants to transmit to the viewer. “To love and to be loved” that is the main idea of the film. It was clearly shown in this film that the main heroes were able to overcome all the stereotypes and got to each other gaining mutual love. In this film we can find a contradiction too. For instance, the boy who could freely speak wasn't sociable and didn't use this ability completely, and, vice versa, the girl who was dumb was able to make herself utter some words which were very valuable for the boy. In spite of being a short film it actually could to express all the concepts  which director wanted because the plot is evolving very quickly and you have to catch up with the events that take place in the film. So it was really educational film filled with mature emotions.
