After watching the film Divergent

Last Wednesday the members of our English speaking club watched the film Divergent, and I asked them to write about their impressions. Here are Susanna Avetisyan's speculations on the film

Divergent is a science fiction film which shows different factions where young people were trying to understand themselves in order to choose the most relevant profession, the right place in their future lives. The choice system is based on different tests which the participants have to take. The person’s character, inner world and reactions to different situations are tested.   One of the participants was Tris, a bold, brave, purposeful, smart and kind girl who performed exclusively well in a group of young people who were to survive at any cost in any extremely dangerous, painful situations without having the right to give in. The heroine of the film possessed some bright inner force that encouraged her to go ahead thinking only about the future. Chips were implanted in their necks, and they began to act subconsciously. They could even kill their parents if they were ordered to do so. They could do anything just to save their own lives: they had become killer robots. It seemed each of the participants didn’t differ from each other. They were all the same type of robot except Tris. She was extremely brave and yet she hadn’t lost her conscience. She differed from everybody, she was divergent (տարամետ): divergent as her mother was. She had taken after her mother. That was why she didn’t belong to any faction. She was ready tto endanger her own family but save millions of other people. I don’t think that it is possible to live without one’s family but they say that a true love heals any wound. I would also like to be kind, brave, purposeful, free and strong like her.
